Trailing Grapevine Frieze Relief

A trailing grapevine frozen in carved motion. This horizontal relief is a full vine-and-acanthus composition: two great C-scrolls anchor the ends, and between them the stem winds through a broad central grape leaf, scattering plump clusters of grapes, curling tendrils, small five-petal flowers and feathered acanthus fronds along its length. Every element is deeply undercut and layered, so the grapes sit almost round and the leaves cast real shadow — a properly ornate, symmetrical spread rather than the flat geometric pattern its tags name. It's a natural fit for anywhere wine and harvest imagery belong: a header over a cellar or bar door, a cabinet or sideboard rail, a fireplace frieze, a church lectern front, or a long panel above a dining bench. Print notes • CNC this as a wide appliqué; oak, walnut or beech suit the grapevine theme. Rough with a ballnose, then chase the tendrils and grape gaps with a fine tapered or V-bit. • For 3D printing, lay it flat on the back face — the round grapes are the main overhang risk, so a face-up orientation keeps them support-free. • The clustered grapes are the fragile bit; keep the relief depth generous so individual berries stay attached. • A walnut stain wiped back off the high points, or antique gold in the recesses, makes the vine read instantly.
