Description

A heraldic crest with its wings thrown wide. The carving spreads a pair of broad, feathered wings out to either side from a central spine of ornament. Crowning the top is a bulbed finial framed by mirrored curling scrolls; below it a small oval cabochon sits at the heart of the piece. From there two tapering pennon-like blades sweep down to enclose a sharp arrow-shaped void, resting on a bed of layered oak-style leaves and a low starburst base with a couple of drilled bosses. The whole emblem is strictly symmetrical and modelled in soft, rounded high relief — the sort of insignia you'd expect above a doorway or on the face of a trophy. It's a CNC relief made to be carved as a wall crest, plaque, over-door centrepiece, gate ornament or a mantel showpiece in oak, walnut or a good dense MDF. CNC notes • Rough with a ball-nose, then finish with a fine tapered ball to draw out the feather barbs, the tight scrolls and the leaf serrations. • The wing tips and leaf edges are delicate — keep grain running across the widest span and consider a sacrificial border to reduce edge chip-out. • Deepen the central arrow void with a small pocketing pass if you want stronger shadow, or cut it clean through for a pierced emblem. • Rubbed wax or a two-tone stain in the recesses makes the wings and foliage read from across a room. • Scale down and it also resin-prints well for badges and props.
