Description

A rose-and-tulip cartouche built to sit proud on cabinet doors and headboards. This relief is a single-sided decorative onlay, not a tray or mandala. At its heart is a shallow dished oval, and springing from it a small bouquet: two half-open roses flanking a tall upright tulip bloom, all rising out of crossed foliage. A scrolled ribbon banner sweeps behind the oval with squared-off ends, and a pair of mirrored acanthus C-scrolls fan out along the bottom edge to anchor the whole piece. The mood is unmistakably Baroque / French provincial, the kind of ornament you glue onto a wardrobe front, a bed crest, a mirror surround or a fireplace overmantel. It is drawn for 3-axis work, with all the detail readable from a single top-down view. Machinists will get the cleanest result with a roughing pass using a 6mm end mill followed by a tapered ball-nose (2–3mm) for the finish. Tight-grain timber such as lime, cherry or beech holds the rose petals; dense MDF works if you intend to paint. Keep the grain running across the width for strength, and sand the flat back true so it beds flush against the furniture. If you would rather 3D print it, lay it face-up and the relief needs no supports.
