Description

A continuous twisted-rope trim that reads like braided cord in wood. The render is a straight length of barley-twist moulding: evenly spaced strands spiralling around a central axis so the surface becomes a tidy repeating helix of rounded lobes and shadowed grooves. It is the classic carved-rope border seen edging mirrors, cabinet fronts, mantels and picture frames, supplied here as a length you can cut down to size. Because it is a tiling profile, one file feeds any run you need; simply trim to length and butt sections together where the twist lines up. CNC notes: • Cut it as a length of trim on a 3-axis machine with a fine ball-nose for the round-over, or on a rotary axis if you want the twist fully in the round. • A tight-grained hardwood such as beech, cherry or walnut keeps the rope strands crisp and splinter-free. • Step the finishing passes finely across the grooves; too coarse a stepover leaves visible facets on the rounded strands. • Mind grain direction at the ends so the last strands don't chip, and leave a little extra length for clean mitres.
