Description

A slender carved pillar of diamond quilting with a jewel at its heart. This is a tall, narrow vertical panel: the full length is filled with a crisp diagonal cross-hatch lattice — a quilted field of raised diamonds — bracketed top and bottom by little scrolled finial caps that curl inward like the ends of a scroll. Dead centre sits an oval cartouche cradling a four-petal quatrefoil rosette, flanked above and below by neat acanthus-leaf brackets that break up the lattice and give the eye a place to land. It is designed as a furniture stile or pilaster — the upright between two doors on a wardrobe or dresser, a mullion strip on a cabinet, a vertical accent on a headboard or a fireplace leg. Cut a mirrored pair to frame a centrepiece. CNC notes: • V-carve the lattice diagonals for sharp, shadow-holding grooves; the crisper the intersections, the better the quilting reads. • Switch to a small ballnose for the raised central rosette and the leaf brackets so they stay rounded, not faceted. • Stretch or compress the height to match your carcass — the middle medallion stays put while the lattice fills the rest. • Hardwood rewards the fine diagonals; MDF works for painted builds. Ease the lattice ridges lightly before finishing so they don't chip. Gild the rosette against a stained lattice for a genuinely period-looking accent.
