Description

A single graceful sweep of acanthus that crowns a doorway, mirror or headboard. This is a long, slim horizontal onlay carved in shallow relief. At its heart sits a small palmette fan — a scalloped shell motif — and from it two mirrored C-scrolls unfurl outward, trailing feathered acanthus leaves that thin to delicate curling tips at each far end. The whole piece is perfectly symmetrical about the centre, with a wide span and a low, elegant profile that hugs a flat surface. It reads as a classic pediment crest: the kind of ornament that finishes the top rail of a cabinet, a mirror frame, an overdoor panel or a bed headboard. Because the design is mirror-symmetric and shallow, it is forgiving to scale to whatever width you need. It suits both the traditional carver and the maker who wants a paintable applique. Print / CNC notes • Cut as a 3-axis relief in a close-grained hardwood (oak, walnut, maple) or dense tooling board. • Rough with a large ball-nose, then finish leaf valleys and the palmette detail with a fine tapered or V-bit. • Keep the flat back true so it glues cleanly onto the host surface. • As a 3D print, resin captures the leaf edges best; prime and gild or paint to match the timber it sits on.
