Daisy And Acanthus Corner Scroll

A pair of open daisies burst from a great curling acanthus wave — a flowing corner ornament with real movement. This relief is a diagonal corner piece: a broad C-scroll of layered acanthus leaf sweeps from bottom-left up to a tightly rolled volute at top-right, and where the foliage meets it blossoms into two round, many-petalled daisy rosettes with domed centres. Smaller leaf tips and rolled buds fill the tail of each scroll, so the eye travels the whole curve without a dead spot. It is asymmetric by design, meant to sit in a corner and be mirrored on the opposite side. Furniture makers use pieces like this on cabinet stiles, mirror and picture-frame corners, headboards and door panels; sign makers drop them into the corners of carved plaques. Making notes • For CNC, this is a natural 3-axis relief carve — a 1.5mm tapered ballnose gets down between the overlapping leaves and into the deep flower centres. • Carve or print a mirrored copy to dress both corners of a frame or panel as a matched pair. • 3D printing: place it flat with the relief facing up and slice at 0.1–0.12mm; the daisy petals and scroll undercuts come through cleanly with no supports. • Sand the high leaf edges lightly after printing, then paint with a dark base and gilt dry-brush to make the rosettes catch the light. The depth is generous enough to throw a real shadow, so it holds its own even under a coat of paint.
