Description

An ornate carved valance crowned with a central shell. This decorative pediment runs a clean moulded top rail across its full width, then blooms below into a rich baroque carving: a fan-shaped shell or palmette at the centre, framed by scrolling acanthus, a small dangling rosette pendant beneath, and a symmetrical pair of flower-and-leaf clusters trailing out to each side. It's a proper statement piece of ornament — the kind of carving you'd fit above a doorway, atop a cabinet or wardrobe, over a mirror, or as a bed-crown centrepiece. Unlike a plain trim strip, this design carries real depth and a defined focal point, so it's meant to be viewed head-on as the crowning detail of a larger piece of furniture. Cut notes: • A 3-axis relief that rewards a two-stage toolpath: rough with a 6 mm end mill, finish with a 2 mm ball-nose, and add a small tapered bit for the tightest scroll cores. • Straight-grained hardwoods — oak, beech or walnut — hold the shell flutes and leaf tips cleanly. • Machine the flat top rail and the carved lower section as a single piece so the moulding stays continuous. • For a painted finish, MDF takes primer smoothly; lightly sand the shell ridges before the topcoat.
