Slim Acanthus Scroll Trim Band

A slender run of acanthus scrollwork to dress a plain edge. This is a long, low-profile decorative onlay: a symmetrical band of curling acanthus leaves and C-scrolls that mirror outward from a small central knot, tapering to a single upswept leaf at each end. The relief is shallow and refined rather than deep and dramatic, which makes it ideal as trim — the apron of a cabinet, the top rail of a mirror frame, a headboard border, or a length of picture-frame moulding. The slim proportions mean it still reads cleanly at smaller sizes, and the mirrored layout lets you butt two copies together or repeat the motif along a longer span without an awkward seam. Cut notes: • A true 3-axis relief; rough with a 6 mm end mill, then finish with a 1.5–2 mm tapered ball-nose to catch the leaf veins. • Machines happily in poplar, maple or MDF for painted work, or a nicer hardwood for stain-and-wax. • Keep it thin in Z when using it as an onlay so it sits proud of the surface without looking bulky. • Printing it? Lay it flat, run 0.12 mm layers, and glue it on as an appliqué once cleaned up.
