Rosette And Beaded Drop Onlay

A cascading pendant of flower, beads and shells. This slim vertical appliqué reads from the top down like a piece of carved jewellery: a pair of rolled scrolls open the design, a central six-petal rosette blooms below them, and beneath that a run of beaded oval frames interlocks around a fan-shaped shell palmette that tapers to a pointed drop. The beading, the layered petals and the fluted shells pack plenty of texture into a narrow footprint. Drops like this were made for the vertical spaces on furniture and joinery: the stile of a wardrobe, the leg of a console table, either side of a mantel, or the centre of a tall door panel. It also works as a standalone carved motif on a plaque. Cut notes: • Single-sided 3D relief; hardwood gives the sharpest beads, though paint-grade MDF is fine for decorative work. • Rough with a 1/4" ball-nose, then switch to a 1/16" tapered ball to pick out the bead rows and petal veins. • The pierced-looking oval frames are relief, not cut-through; keep the finishing stepover tight so the ovals stay round. • Scale to the height of your panel, glue and pin, then finish to match the surrounding timber.
