Description

A long, slender rail with a burst of blossom at its centre and leafy scrolls trailing to each tip. This is a horizontal onlay — far wider than it is tall — built to run along the top of something. The middle carries a small posy of open five-petal flowers and round buds; from it, symmetrical stems of curling leaves and tiny florets sweep left and right along a gently undulating band that thins to a plain tapered point at both ends. The relief is low and delicate, more sketch-in-wood than deep carving. It's made for the header of a cabinet or wardrobe, the apron beneath a shelf, the top rail of a mirror or picture frame, or the crown of a headboard — anywhere you want a light floral accent stretched across a span. Make a longer run by mirroring and repeating the leafy end sections. Print notes: • Long and thin, so watch for warping: print on a clean bed with a brim, or machine it clamped along its whole length. • The shallow relief suits a 3D carve with a 1mm tapered ball nose; a heavy roughing pass isn't really needed. • On FDM lay it flat, back down, at 0.12mm — the petals are fine and reward a slow outer-wall speed. • Fill and prime before painting; the low relief hides sanding scratches but shows brush texture.
