Description

A linked-capsule border that runs like a strand of cast beadwork. This CNC relief is a horizontal repeating moulding built from a row of rounded oblong cartouches — each a soft-walled capsule with a sunken well in the middle — joined edge to edge by little dumbbell links. Between every pair of capsules sits a small raised dot boss, giving the strip a steady tick-tick-tick rhythm along its length. The forms are gently domed rather than sharp, so raking light rolls smoothly across them and reads as a quietly premium trim. It's designed to be tiled end to end, so you can carve a run as long as your stock allows: think drawer-front and cabinet-door borders, mirror and picture-frame surrounds, headboard trim, or a banded detail along a mantel or bar front. Because the pattern is symmetrical top-to-bottom it works either way up. Print / cut notes: • Rough out the pockets with a 3– 6 mm ball-nose, then finish the rounded transitions with a smaller tapered ball-nose for clean domes. • Tight, even-grained hardwoods (maple, beech, cherry) or dense MDF hold the soft edges best; brittle open-grain woods will tear at the link necks. • Mind the join: line up one full capsule-to-capsule repeat at each tile boundary so the border reads continuously. • For 3D printing, lay it flat, print face-up at 0.12 mm, and the domed wells come off the bed smoothly — no supports needed.
