Description

A wavy-edged blank panel waiting for your engraving, inlay or serving tray. The carve here is deliberately understated: a smooth rectangular plate framed by a gently rippling, ogee-scalloped border that pinches in along the sides and swells at the corners, giving an otherwise plain surface a soft, antique-mirror elegance. The centre field is left flat and open — a clean canvas — while a subtle raised lip runs the whole perimeter. In short, it is a decorative blank: a base for whatever you want to add. Route it as a serving or vanity tray, a house-name or address plaque, an award backer, a photo or clock mount, or a bed for laid-in resin, veneer or lettering. The wavy edge does the decorative heavy lifting, so even an unengraved piece looks finished. Because the face is empty you can personalise every copy differently — engrave a name, V-carve a monogram, or pocket the centre for an inlay. Print notes (CNC) • Rough the pocket and face with a flat end mill, then finish the scalloped border with a ball-nose for the soft rounded profile. • Hardwood shows the edge moulding best; MDF is fine if you plan to paint. • Leave onion-skin tabs so the piece does not shift on the final profile pass. • Sand up through the grits and finish with oil or lacquer; add feet if it becomes a tray.
