Description

A ribbon of carved leafwork that pours down the panel like a frozen waterfall of curls. This vertical onlay reads as a single continuous acanthus vine, its stem coiling into a run of tight volute rosettes that alternate down the length while slender leaf-tips and teardrop buds branch off to either side. The relief is generously domed — high in the rolled scroll centres, tapering to crisp fine edges where the foliage lifts away from the ground — so it throws real depth and shadow when raked by light. It is built as a slim upright, ideal for dressing the stile of a cabinet door, the leg of a mirror or headboard, a pilaster, or the muntin of a period cupboard, and it mirrors cleanly if you want a matched left/right pair flanking a centre. Print / cut notes: • Cut in a straight-grained hardwood such as lime, cherry or walnut so the fine scroll tips don't chip; a 1/8 inch or smaller tapered ball-nose gives the best finish in the tight coils. • Leave it slightly proud of the ground and hand-sand the domed surfaces — the raised curls take a gilt wax or dark glaze beautifully. • If 3D printing instead, lay the flat back to the bed and print face-up; no supports needed and layer lines vanish under primer. • Model is a one-sided decorative relief; mirror the file for a symmetrical pair.
