Scrolled Acanthus Drop Onlay

A cascading acanthus leaf that curls open in tiered, feathered lobes. This vertical drop onlay is built around a single stylised acanthus leaf. Two tight scroll volutes crown the top, framing a raised central rib; from there a string of three graduated beads runs down the spine while the leaf splits into overlapping, deeply channelled lobes that peel outward in symmetrical tiers before tapering to a pointed tip. Modelled in crisp shallow relief, it has real depth and shadow and reads with a lush, hand-carved richness. It's a classic drop / pendant ornament for furniture and joinery: run it down a cabinet stile or pilaster, mount it beneath a shelf or corbel, dress a table leg or the centre of a door rail, or use a matched pair to flank a mirror. CNC notes: • Rough the background out first, then finish the scrolls, beads and leaf channels with a fine tapered ball-nose bit for clean flutes. • It works well in oak, walnut, lime or dense MDF; the deep channels take stain and glaze beautifully. • Keep it oriented tip-down as it would hang, and scale the length to your panel before cutting. • Break the sharp edges lightly and seal before finishing.
