Description

Two mirrored scrolls meeting in a flame-like flourish — pure ornamental calligraphy in wood. This CNC relief is an abstract, bilaterally symmetric scroll design: a tall vertical ornament where slender ribbons loop and cross, splitting into a pair of large teardrop loops at the base and rising to feathered, flame-tipped tendrils at the crown. A smaller inner motif curls up the centre spine like a stylised flourish. There's no figure or foliage here — it's all line and negative space, which keeps it elegant and light rather than busy. The raised ribbons are smoothly rounded, so a finishing pass leaves a soft, polished bevel. It's a versatile decorative onlay: centre it on a bed's headboard, run it down a cabinet door stile, dress a mirror frame, or use a facing pair on either side of a panel. Because it's slim and vertical, it fits narrow real estate where a wide relief won't. Print / CNC notes • The design carves best in a fine, pale hardwood — maple, beech or sycamore — where the flowing lines stay crisp. • A ball-nose finishing bit rounds the ribbon tops nicely; a small tapered bit clears the tight loop interiors. • Watch the thin crossing bridges — feed gently and use light final passes so the cutter doesn't tear the narrow spans. • Sand along the ribbon length, not across, and a clear satin finish keeps the negative-space design reading cleanly against its backing board.
