Description

A carved crown for the top of a cabinet or doorway. This is a decorative cornice, or valance, moulding: a long horizontal element with a flat capping ledge above and, beneath it, a band of flowing baroque scrollwork, symmetrical foliate curls and tendrils rolling out from a central point. Below the ornament the lower edge sweeps into a shaped, wing-like apron with soft points, so the whole piece frames whatever sits under it with a graceful, mirror-image flourish. It is made for furniture builders, cabinetmakers and interior joiners, ideal as the pediment over a wardrobe, dresser, headboard, mirror or door surround, or as a mantel and pelmet topper. The balanced composition also works as a standalone wall crest. CNC / print notes • A 2.5D to 3D relief; rough out with a larger bit and finish the scroll detail with a fine ball-nose for clean, rounded curls. • The design is symmetrical, so it tiles and mirrors neatly if you need a wider run. • In hardwood the deep undercuts read best; in MDF it primes and paints to a moulded, cast-plaster look. • Printed, lay it face-up and flat so the scrollwork bridges without supports, then fill and sand the flat ledge before finishing.
