Description

A long, wave-edged crest board that turns a plain shelf, window top or headboard into something that looks joined by hand. This is a wide horizontal valance panel with a strong left-to-right symmetry. The top and bottom edges aren't straight — they rise and dip in gentle serpentine curves that tuck into a pair of small inward-rolling scroll terminals right at the centre, top and bottom, as if two carved brackets meet in the middle. The face itself is quiet on purpose: a smooth, slightly dished central field is held inside a stepped raised border, leaving a clean flat panel that begs to carry a monogram, a carved motto or a house name added later. Because the profile is shaped but the relief is shallow, it reads beautifully as a pelmet or window pelmet crest, a bed cornice rail, a cabinet or mantel header, or a blank sign board for a workshop or shopfront. Print notes: • Lay it flat on the bed or spoilboard — the shape is essentially a low raised relief, so no supports are needed face-up. • The broad central field is ideal for a second V-carve or laser pass if you want to add lettering. • On a CNC, rough with a large end mill then finish the scroll terminals with a small ball-nose for crisp rolls. • Scale the length to your opening; a light sand and a wax or gilt cream lifts the border edges.
