Description

A slender vertical trim carved with a running spray of leaves. This is a long, narrow moulding strip, tall and thin like a pilaster or the stile of a cabinet. Down its centre runs a raised spine, and off it, in a neat herringbone rhythm, springs pair after pair of curling laurel-style leaves, each one overlapping the last so the whole length reads as a continuous braided frond. It's topped by a small upright leaf bud, giving the strip a clear top and a tidy point at the base. Simple, repeating and quietly classical, exactly the sort of vertical accent that flanks a door panel, edges a fireplace column or divides a run of cabinetry. Use it in pairs or repeats to frame flat surfaces, or as a single vertical highlight where you need a slim carved detail rather than a big ornament. Cutting notes • The tall, narrow footprint machines quickly, keep the stock well clamped along its whole length so it doesn't chatter. • A small ballnose gives the leaves their rounded, scooped look; tighten the stepover for smooth flanks. • Tileable by design: butt copies end to end to run the leaf braid up a longer column or pilaster. • Hardwood holds the leaf tips crisply; finish with oil, or paint and pick out the recesses with a darker glaze for depth. Also prints well in resin as a lightweight applied moulding, cut to length and glued straight onto trim or furniture.
