Description

A wide, feather-light sweep of carved acanthus that instantly dresses a plain surface. This is a horizontal decorative onlay, not a tray or mandala. From a raised central palmette — a small fanned shell flanked by a drop — two mirror-image sprays of acanthus foliage curl outward and taper to delicate rolled tips at each end. The leaves are cut in soft, rounded relief with layered veining, giving that hand-carved Continental look you see on antique cabinets and mantels. The whole motif is low and elongated, built to run along a rail rather than fill a square. It is made to be applied: a slim relief with a flat back that glues onto drawer fronts, cabinet doors, mirror and headboard crests, mantel friezes or the apron of a console. Left in bare wood, gilded, or painted and dry-brushed, it reads as genuine period ornament. Print / cut notes • CNC: hog the field with a 6mm end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose for the leaf hollows; mind grain direction on the thin curling tips so they don’t chip. • Mount on double-sided tape or a sacrificial board — the piece is long and shallow. • 3D print face-down flat on the bed; the flat back needs no supports and the relief comes off clean. • Resin captures the fine veining best; if using FDM, a 0.12mm layer height keeps the leaf edges crisp for painting or gilding.
