Description

A length of trim with a lazy S-wave scooped between two tight volutes. This horizontal molding runs as a plain banded rail, then blooms at centre into an open, sweeping wave — a raised ribbon that dips and rises — bookended by a pair of neatly rolled spiral scrolls. The space beneath the wave is fully pierced, giving the piece an airy, drawn-line quality rather than a solid boss. Made to sit as a door or cabinet header, a mirror or clock crest, a furniture apron, or a repeating run of applied molding along a rail. Carve / print notes • Symmetrical left to right, so it tiles cleanly for a longer run — mirror or repeat the centre motif. • Shallow relief on a flat back: cut face-up with a small ball-nose for the rolled scroll cores. • On FDM the open wave prints support-free provided the flat back sits on the bed. • Straight-grained lime or poplar routs crisply; ease the scroll edges by hand and it takes gilding or a glaze beautifully.
