Description

A repeating chain of soft ovals, linked like beads on a ribbon. This is a long, low-relief running border built from a row of rounded oval cartouches — each one a plump, pillow-like ring with a recessed dished centre. Between every pair sits a small S-shaped connector that reads like an interlocking clasp, so the whole strip looks laced together into a continuous guilloche-style band. The forms are smooth and generously radiused rather than sharp, giving a soft, rope-and-link rhythm that suits both traditional and clean contemporary work. It's designed as trim: a drawer rail, a mirror or picture surround, a plinth band, a headboard strip, or a length of cornice where you want quiet, repeating detail rather than a busy floral. The even repeat makes it easy to cut to length. Print notes / CNC notes • Mill flat, relief up; the rounded profiles love a ball-nose finishing pass and forgive a slightly larger stepover than sharp carvings would. • The pattern tiles cleanly end to end — trim between two connectors so joins disappear into the linkage. • Even, close-grained stock (maple, poplar, MDF for painted work) gives the smoothest domed ovals; break the crisp top edges lightly with fine paper. • To resin-print or FDM it, lay it flat with the relief upward — no supports needed — and a mid-tone wash sinks nicely into the dished centres. Run it as far as the job needs; the linked ovals never lose their beat.
