Description

A slender length of trim with one small carved jewel at its heart. This is a decorative apron, a long, shallow molding strip with a gently shaped, wave-cut lower edge that dips at the centre and rises to squared ends. Right at the midpoint sits a compact carved cartouche: a little shell fan wrapped in curling acanthus scrollwork, the single point of ornament on an otherwise clean, elegant band. It is the kind of understated trim that finishes the underside of a table, a cabinet rail, a shelf edge or a mirror frame. Milled in wood it adds a whisper of tradition without shouting, and the restraint is exactly the point. Cut & print notes: • Ideal for CNC relief routing: use a large-diameter bit to clear the flat field fast, then a fine tapered ball-nose to detail the central cartouche and edge profile. • Hardwoods like oak, cherry or maple take the crisp scroll detail well; MDF works for a painted finish. • Mind the grain direction along the length so the shaped bottom edge does not chip out. • Prefer 3D printing? Lay it flat, face-up, and resin-print for the sharpest cartouche, or FDM at fine layers and light-sand before staining or gilding. • Scale the length in your CAM to fit the exact span of your project.
