Description

A gentle sweep of carved scrollwork to crown a cabinet or doorway. This long, low horizontal moulding is shaped like a shallow arch, tapering to fine points at each end, with a symmetrical burst of acanthus scrolls and curling leaf-tips meeting at the centre. The carving sits proud of an otherwise smooth band, so the eye is drawn straight to that central flourish while the plain sweep of the rail keeps the whole thing elegant rather than busy. It's a classic furniture appliqué and valance piece: mount it above a cabinet, mirror, headboard, archway or range hood as a decorative crest or apron. Print / CNC notes • Made for a CNC router: a tapered ball-nose finishing pass captures the rolled scroll tips and the leaf undercuts. • Choose a timber that matches your carcass (oak, walnut, tulipwood) so it blends once finished. • It's long and thin, so mind your workholding and leave onion-skin tabs so the delicate points don't lift mid-cut. • On a 3D printer, split the length if it exceeds your bed, print flat, and glue the seams under the central motif where they hide. • Sand, then stain or gild the scrollwork to lift it from the background.
