Cascading Acanthus Cabinet Crown

A cascade of carved leaves made to crown the top of a cabinet. This is a vertical drop onlay — a symmetrical spray of acanthus foliage that fans upward and outward. A central plume rises through the middle, flanked by broad ribbed leaves whose slender fronds arc away and coil into tight snail-shell volutes at their tips. Below, the leaves gather and taper down into a pointed pendant, giving the whole piece the elegant teardrop silhouette of a classical Baroque or Rococo mount. Designed to be glued or pinned onto flat surfaces, it suits door and cabinet crowns, mirror and picture frames, headboards, longcase-clock cases and mantel drops. It brings instant period character wherever a vertical accent is needed. CNC notes: • STL supplied; orient the long axis along the grain for strength through the narrow pendant tip. • Rough out the volume first, then finish the flowing leaf channels and curled volutes with a tapered ball-nose for smooth, sweeping cuts. • Choose a tight-grained hardwood — lime, maple or cherry — so the fine scroll tips don't crumble. • Prints well as a face-up relief for resin casting or a paintable lightweight onlay; no supports required in that orientation.
