Linked-Oval Guilloche Border Molding

A repeating chain of ovals, ready to run along an edge for as long as you need. This CNC-oriented border shows a horizontal band of linked oval rings, each one pinched top and bottom by little stylised bracket-and-scroll connectors, with a raised bead centred inside every second link. The rhythm is regular and calm, a Neoclassical guilloche-style trim rather than a busy floral one, rendered here in a soft maple tone with gently rounded, machinable relief. Furniture makers and cabinet restorers will recognise it at a glance: it is the kind of running molding that edges a drawer front, a mantel shelf, a mirror surround or a picture frame. Because the motif tiles horizontally, you can loop the toolpath to fit any length. Print notes: • Ideal for CNC relief carving in hardwood; a ball-nose finishing pass keeps the rounded rings smooth, with a small V-bit for the tight connector detail. • The relief is shallow, so it also prints well flat on an FDM or resin bed as an appliqué you can glue on. • Match the repeat length before cutting so the pattern meets seamlessly, and mitre the ends for a framed run. • Stain or gild after finishing to set it against darker timber.
