Description

A slim vertical panel with a smooth face and a finely beaded frame. The design is deliberately understated: a tall, flat rectangular field bordered by a crisp multi-step moulding, with the short ends terminating in softly rounded, scroll-like lobes. There is no figurative motif here, just a clean, blank-fielded plaque, the kind of restrained profile that suits lettering, a monogram, or use as a door fingerplate or pilaster infill. Because the centre is open, it is a versatile base: leave it plain as a moulded trim board, engrave a name or house number into the field, or pair it with a separate carved motif dropped on top. It works on doors, cabinet sides, headboards and wall panelling. CNC notes • Mostly a profile-and-pocket job: run the stepped border with a small ball-nose or profile bit, then a shallow surfacing pass to leave the central field flat and clean. • Keep the moulding steps crisp with a fine finishing stepover; the rounded end lobes need a smooth arc, so ease the feed on the curves. • Great in oak, ash or MDF; MDF primes beautifully if you are painting, while hardwood suits a clear-oiled or engraved finish. • If you will add text, do it as a second v-carve pass after surfacing so the letters sit dead flat in the field.
