Description

A rococo scroll caught mid-curl, all acanthus and swagger. This onlay is a single flowing baroque flourish: a fat spiral volute at the top unwinding into a cascade of acanthus leaves that taper and hook down toward a second, smaller scroll at the base. The carving is deeply undercut, with crisp ridged veins running along each leaf and rolled tips that lift away from the ground plane — the kind of ornate, asymmetric detail you'd find framing an antique mirror, a headboard crest or a cabinet corner. It's built for CNC relief work and finish carpentry. Cut it as a decorative appliqué to glue onto furniture, run it as an inlay pocket, or use it as a template for door and fireplace surrounds. The design has a clear grain of flow, so it pairs beautifully mirrored left-and-right around a central motif. Print / CNC notes: • On a router, a tapered ball-nose bit (1/8" or smaller) will chase the tight inner spirals; leave a roughing pass first to clear the deep pockets. • Hardwoods (oak, walnut, cherry) hold the fine leaf tips far better than soft pine. • If 3D printing in resin, orient the flat back to the plate and support only the overhanging curls. • Sand the raised scrolls, then a dark wax or gilt wax in the recesses makes the relief pop.
