Interlocking Chain Link Moulding

A running chain of interlocking rings, ready to trim the edge of anything. This is a long, low-relief moulding strip carved as a row of open circular links that loop into one another end to end, like a flattened length of chain laid along a raised base bar. Small squared blocks cap each end so the run finishes cleanly rather than trailing off. The repeat is even and rhythmic, the rings rounded in profile so light rolls across them and throws a soft shadow between each loop. This is furniture-and-joinery hardware more than a standalone piece: think drawer fronts, cabinet rails, mirror and picture frames, headboard borders, or a decorative band around a box lid. Cut it in a hardwood to match a build, or print it as an applique to glue and paint over. Because it is a single tileable segment, you can butt copies together to reach whatever length a project needs. Cut & print notes • Designed for a CNC router: rough with a larger bit, then detail the ring cavities with a small ball-nose for the rounded links. • Straightforward as an FDM or resin applique too — lay it flat on the bed, no supports needed. • Mirror or repeat the tile to extend; trim the plain end blocks where two runs meet. • Sand lightly and it takes stain, paint or gilt cream evenly across the raised links.
