Baroque Acanthus Plume Cartouche

A symmetrical baroque plume, all scrolling leaves and rolled tips, carved in deep relief. This is a decorative acanthus-leaf onlay: a classic cartouche-style ornament built around a tall central frond that fountains upward, flanked by pairs of scrolling acanthus leaves that curl outward and tuck into tight spiral rolls at their ends. A rounded, scrolled base gathers the whole arrangement together. The carving is high and rounded with crisp channels between the leaves, casting strong shadows that make it read from across a room. It is the sort of applied ornament used to dress furniture, cabinet doors, headboards, fireplace surrounds, mirror frames and door panels, or simply mounted as a standalone wall relief. Cut small it becomes a repeating corbel or drawer accent; scaled up it works as a feature centrepiece over a doorway. Cut and print notes • For CNC, rough with a suitable end mill then finish with a tapered ballnose to reach into the leaf channels and spiral undercuts; the tightest rolls may want a small-diameter finishing bit. • Machines beautifully in hardwoods, MDF or machinable foam for painted and gilded finishes. • As a 3D print, run it face-up as a relief; supports are minimal since the back is flat. • Primer and a dark wash into the recesses instantly reads as carved wood; a gold or bronze rub-through suits period and gilt schemes.
