Twin Blossom And Leaf Onlay

Two open blossoms nestled together, cradled by a spray of long leaves. This CNC onlay is a horizontal floral cluster: a pair of full, many-petalled flowers sit shoulder to shoulder at the centre, each petal grooved with a fine central vein, and a small budded bloom tucks in between them. From either side, slim pointed leaves sweep outward and curl at the tips, giving the whole piece a graceful, wing-like spread. It's a classic decorative applique — the kind of ornament glued to a cabinet door, drawer front, headboard, mirror crown or furniture apron to lift plain joinery. Its symmetry makes it ideal as a centred crest above a panel or doorway. Carve it in a fine, even-grained wood so the petal veins stay sharp. Cut notes • The model wants a tapered ball-nose finishing pass to round the petals and hollow the flower centres cleanly. • Watch the undercut leaf tips — leave them slightly attached or use a small enough bit to reach between petals. • On a 3D printer, lay it flat and face-up, adding light supports only under the raised leaf curls. • Prime and paint, or carve in hardwood and gild for a period furniture look.
