Description

A classic centrepiece flourish, sculpted in warm relief. This horizontal onlay is built around a raised central palmette — a fanned, shell-like plume — that anchors a pair of mirrored C-scrolls curling in beneath it. From there the ornament sweeps outward in both directions, tapering through acanthus leaf tips that lift and feather at the ends, with small bead accents tucked around the crown. It is a textbook symmetrical cartouche/applique, wider than it is tall, made to sit centred on a flat surface. Furniture makers and CNC hobbyists will know exactly where this goes: the crest of a cabinet door, over a mirror or archway, along a headboard, above a fireplace, or as a repeating pediment accent. As a glue-on onlay it dresses plain millwork instantly. Cut / print notes • Shallow relief — a ball-nose finishing pass reads the flowing leaf and scroll surfaces best; a small V-bit sharpens the tight inner curls. • Machine from oak, cherry, maple or a paint-grade hardwood; the low, feathered leaf edges are the delicate part, so keep feed rates gentle at the tips. • Leave a thin flat backing so it glues cleanly onto flat surfaces as an applique. • Mirror and pair two of them, or scale the width to match your door or panel run. • Also prints nicely in resin as a paint-and-gild decorative applique if you'd rather not rout it.
