Description

Two acanthus scrolls curling to meet in the middle — the cabinetmaker's classic flourish. This is a wide, symmetrical onlay: a pair of mirrored leaf-and-scroll sprays that roll inward from each end and finish in a tidy central swirl, all riding on a strip whose lower edge sweeps down in a shallow arch like an apron or valance. The relief is soft and rounded, without deep undercuts, so it catches raking light gently and carves without fragile edges. It's built to dress an edge or top a frame. Use it as a header above a cabinet door, doorway, mirror or bed; as a drawer front or apron applique on furniture; or as a standalone crest above a shop sign or shelf. The mirrored layout means it centres neatly on anything symmetrical. Print notes • CNC: rough with a large ballnose, then finish the scrollwork with a fine tapered ballnose for smooth flowing curves. • The piece runs long and thin, so clamp both ends and cut with shallow stepdowns to avoid chatter. • 3D printing: lay it face-up and flat on the bed — the shallow relief needs no supports. • Mirror or repeat it end-to-end to fill a wider span, or scale the height to suit your rail.
