Description

A symmetrical carved onlay that frames empty space as elegantly as it fills it. An upright decorative appliqué built on mirror symmetry: paired acanthus scrolls curl inward at the top like ram's horns, cradling a round many-petalled daisy. From there, two ropes of overlapping scallop-beads — read them as stylised laurel or feather swags — sweep down and around to meet at a small floret at the base, enclosing a soft teardrop of open space in the middle. Every lobe is gently domed, so the piece has real dimensional roundness rather than a flat etched look. This is furniture and cabinetry jewellery: glue it to a door panel, drawer front, headboard, mirror frame, or clock case, or use it as a vertical centre motif on a chest. It reads equally well in painted MDF, waxed hardwood, or cast resin. Print / carve notes • CNC in a fine-grain wood (lime, cherry, maple) with a ball-nose finishing pass to keep the rounded lobes smooth. • 3D print flat on its back, decorated face up — supports are unnecessary and the detail stays crisp. • The open centre is deliberate; mount it over a contrasting surface so the negative space shows. • Seal and lightly gild or dry-brush the high points to accent the beading and petals.
