Scrolled Palmette Centre Crest

A symmetrical scroll crest that spreads like open wings. This horizontal onlay mirrors two long C-scrolls out from the centre: each side rolls into a tight snail volute at the tip, doubles back through a smaller inner curl, then flows toward the middle. Where they meet, a slender palmette fans downward — a fluted teardrop of narrow petals capped by a small crown — anchoring the whole ornament like the keystone of an arch. It is made to run along the top rail of a mirror, a cabinet cornice, a bed frame or a door header, drawing the eye to a single centre point. Long and low in profile, it fills a wide span without feeling heavy, and pairs neatly above a matching corner set. Cutting notes • Shallow, flowing relief — a ball-nose finishing pass gives the rounded scroll surfaces their soft sheen. • Cut as a glue-on appliqué in a fine hardwood or PU moulding stock, or machine straight into the rail. • Keep feeds gentle through the thin volute tips so the delicate curls don't chip out. • Gild the central palmette or wax the recesses to add depth against a stained ground.
