Mirrored Scrollwork Diamond Cartouche

A mirrored flourish of scrollwork, ready to dress up plain furniture. This is a decorative onlay carved as a symmetrical cartouche: four bold volutes spiral out from a central point to form a soft diamond, each scroll unrolling into a curling leaf tip, with a pointed fleur-style bud capping the top, bottom, left and right axes. It is perfectly balanced across both axes, so it sits equally well upright or on its side. The relief is smooth and rounded — long, ribbon-like strands that flow into tight coils, the hallmark of classic French/Baroque appliqué ornament. Makers reach for a piece like this to lift something ordinary: glue it to a cabinet door, a headboard, a mirror frame, a drawer front or a plaque and instantly add a hand-carved, antique-furniture feel.
