Description

A mirrored flourish of scrollwork, ready to dress up plain furniture. This is a decorative onlay carved as a symmetrical cartouche: four bold volutes spiral out from a central point to form a soft diamond, each scroll unrolling into a curling leaf tip, with a pointed fleur-style bud capping the top, bottom, left and right axes. It is perfectly balanced across both axes, so it sits equally well upright or on its side. The relief is smooth and rounded — long, ribbon-like strands that flow into tight coils, the hallmark of classic French/Baroque appliqué ornament. Makers reach for a piece like this to lift something ordinary: glue it to a cabinet door, a headboard, a mirror frame, a drawer front or a plaque and instantly add a hand-carved, antique-furniture feel. It also works as a standalone wall accent or as a repeatable motif run in pairs. Print notes • This is a single-sided appliqué — machine it as a relief on a flat blank; a 3mm-or-smaller tapered ball-nose gets cleanly into the tight scroll centres. • Fine-grain, machinable timber (lime, tulipwood, hard maple) or a dense modelling board holds the crisp coils without fuzz. • For 3D printing, lay it flat on the back and print with no supports; a fine layer height keeps the ribbon edges smooth. • Sand lightly, then glue and clamp to your workpiece; stain or gild to match the surface it decorates.
