Description
An egg of carved leaves, part pinecone, part unfurling bud. D 369 reads as a three-dimensional finial: a smooth ovoid body clasped by broad acanthus leaves that sweep up from the base and peel outward at the sides, their central ribs deeply channelled so the whole thing looks caught mid-bloom. The top rises to a plain pointed dome, while beaded, seed-like detail gathers at the foot. It has real depth and roundness — this is a turned-and-carved ornament, not a flat relief. Use it as a newel-post cap, bedpost or gatepost finial, a lamp-base topper, or a standalone decorative object on a mantel. Print / cut notes: • As a 3D print, orient point-up and support the outward leaf tips; resin captures the leaf channelling best, but fine-layer FDM works if sanded. • On a 4-axis CNC or a router with a rotary axis, machine it in the round; otherwise split front and back and glue. • Hollow prints to save material and add a threaded insert or dowel socket in the base for mounting. • A walnut stain sunk into the leaf grooves, then wiped back, throws the carving into strong relief. Scale it up for architectural work or down for jewellery-box and clock finials.
