Acanthus Scroll Oval Frame Onlay

Four furling acanthus leaves clasped into an open oval. This decorative onlay is built from paired, scrolling acanthus fronds that curl in from top and bottom, each terminating in a plump rounded bud where the leaves meet. The centre is left open, so the piece frames whatever it surrounds — a mirror, a clock face, an inset panel or a carved motif on a cabinet door. The carving is deep and flowing, with crisp leaf veins and rolled tips that throw soft shadow lines across the surface.
