Baroque Foliage Mirror Frame Surround

A grand carved surround, dressed corner-to-corner in Baroque foliage. This is a tall, upright frame — a mirror or picture surround (it could equally crown a doorway) with a slim fluted inner moulding running the full height of both sides. What lifts it out of the ordinary is the carving at the joints: the two top corners erupt in feathery acanthus scrolls that spill inward over the frame, while the foot of each upright blooms into a cluster of roses and curling leaves wound around a scrolled base. The centre is left open and unadorned, ready for glass, a canvas or a mirror plate. It's a statement piece for a hallway, over a mantel, or as a dressing-mirror frame, and it takes gilding or a distressed painted finish especially well. Print / CNC notes • The long fluted sides are best routed as clean parallel channels; the ornate corner and base clusters are deep, undercut relief that suit a fine ball-nose finishing pass. • For CNC, consider cutting the plain rails and the carved corner/foot pieces separately, then assembling — it saves stock and simplifies fixturing on a tall panel. • If printing, split into corner and rail sections to fit the bed and reinforce the joints with dowels. • Support the overhanging acanthus tips; sand and seal before gilding so the metallic leaf sits evenly.
