Description

A calm sweep of scrollwork rising to a central palmette crown. This long, low-relief onlay carries a slim horizontal bar decorated with a symmetrical carving: at the middle a fanned palmette — part acanthus, part stylised shell — sits above a small beaded drop, and from it two mirrored C-scroll volutes uncurl outward along a gentle wave, each tapering to a tidy bud terminal at the ends. The background carving is shallow and flowing, the kind of restrained classical trim that dresses a piece without shouting. It is made to be applied as a crest or header: across the top rail of a cabinet or wardrobe, over a doorframe, along a mirror or picture surround, or centred on a bed headboard. Because the design is mirror-symmetrical it also tiles cleanly if you want a longer run. CNC and print notes: • Cut in a tight-grained hardwood — oak, walnut, cherry or maple — or in dense MDF for a paint-grade finish. • Rough the field with a 2-flute ballnose, then detail the scroll cores and the palmette veins with a fine tapered ballnose or a small V-bit for crisp valleys. • Keep the flat backing thin so the finished onlay glues flush to the host surface; leave onion-skin tabs to hold it during machining. • It also resin-prints well as a ready-to-glue appliqué — print face-up, no supports needed on the flat back.
