Description

A mirror-symmetrical baroque onlay dripping with acanthus, tulips and grapes. This is a decorative relief carving built for CNC work. Two tall acanthus leaves curl up and out from the centre like a pair of flames, their tips scrolling over at the top. Below, the composition blooms into two draped bundles of furled, tulip-like petals spilling over rounded pods, with clustered grape-like spheres gathered underneath and a small tied knot cinching the two halves together at the middle. The whole piece is perfectly bilateral, with soft rounded modelling and deep undercuts that catch raking light. It's designed as an appliqué or onlay: the kind of ornament you'd apply to a cabinet door, headboard, fireplace surround, mirror frame or door panel for a classical, French-provincial feel. It reads just as well as a standalone wall medallion. Cut and print notes: • For CNC, rough with a large end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose (2–3mm) to resolve the leaf veins and grape clusters; a 40–45° finishing pass handles the undercut curls. • Cuts cleanly in oak, walnut, cherry, basswood or MDF; seal end grain before staining. • For 3D printing, orient face-up and either print flat with no supports or tilt slightly and support only the deepest undercuts. • Scale the height to your panel and mirror it to build matching left/right pairs.
