Horizontal Acanthus Scroll Onlay

A ribbon of carved acanthus to lift plain woodwork. This CNC relief is a symmetrical onlay in the classic palmette-and-scroll tradition: a central fan of layered leaves rises from a rounded bud, then splits into two long C-scrolls that curl back on themselves at each end. The modelling is smooth and confident, with rounded lobes and deep shadow channels between the leaves that read beautifully once cut into timber and finished. It is designed for furniture makers — cabinet doors, headboards, mirror frames and mantel centres — anywhere a horizontal decorative accent is wanted. The low, wide format suits a rail or an apron; mirror a pair to flank a keystone or a drop-front. CNC and print notes • Supplied as a 3D relief for a CNC router — a tapered ball-nose bit gives the cleanest transitions in the leaf hollows. • Rough with a larger bit, then finish-pass at a fine stepover (10–12%) for a sand-ready surface. • Oak, walnut and tulipwood carve crisply; use MDF or basswood for painted work. • It also prints as a resin or FDM appliqué to glue on — flat back to the plate, no supports required.
