Undulating Wave Molding Trim

A single, calm S-wave rolling the length of a slim trim board. This is a length of decorative molding: a long flat rectangular strip carved with one smooth, undulating wave line that sweeps low at one end and rises to a soft crest at the other. The profile is deliberately minimal — a rounded raised bead flowing in a gentle serpentine, with a shallow valley shadowing it, so the whole piece reads as quiet, contemporary movement rather than busy ornament. It is a repeatable run of trim, meant to be tiled end to end. Use it as a drawer-front accent, a bed-rail or apron detail, a wainscot cap, a picture-frame liner, or a border framing a plainer panel. The understated curve pairs well with modern furniture where heavy carving would feel wrong. Print notes: • Cut face-up on flat stock; the bead is broad and forgiving, so a medium ball-nose finishes it fast with almost invisible stepover. • Design the tile so the wave meets flush at both ends — mirror alternate lengths if you want a continuous ribbon along a long run. • On FDM, print flat at 0.16 mm; the smooth sweep needs no supports and sands to a glassy finish in minutes. • Fill the grain, then spray a satin lacquer — raking light along the crest is what sells this piece, so keep the surface clean.
