Description

A smooth oval dish with a drain at its heart, shaped to shed water. Setting aside the terse code name, this is a gently dished oval bowl or soap dish. The interior scoops down to a wide, softly stepped basin with a single round drain hole punched through the middle, while a raised lip runs all the way around the rim. Cut into the floor and edges are several elongated slots and small notches, positioned to channel standing water toward the centre and let air circulate underneath, exactly what you want under a wet bar of soap or a rinsed sponge. It is a tidy, functional homeware piece: a bathroom or kitchen-sink soap dish, a draining tray for a shaving brush or scrubber, or a small catch-all for rings and studs by the basin. Making notes: • As a CNC part, pocket this from a solid hardwood or a resin blank; rough the concave bowl with a ball-nose, then finish with fine stepover passes for a clean sweep. • Drill or bore the centre hole cleanly and ease the slot ends so water runs freely. • If you 3D print it instead, orient it bowl-up and expect to support the underside of the overhanging rim. • Seal wood thoroughly with a waterproof oil or lacquer, and site the drain hole over your sink or a saucer so run-off has somewhere to go.
