Scalloped-Edge Nameplate Sign Blank

A ready-to-letter sign blank with an elegant serpentine frame. The panel is a broad horizontal rectangle whose top and bottom edges swell and dip in a gentle scalloped wave, finished with small stepped ears on either side that read like ribbon tails. The face is left completely smooth and softly domed — a blank canvas waiting for a name, a house number, a business logo or a workshop motto. This is the versatile starting point every sign-maker wants: carve your own text or add a separate appliqué and you have a house sign, nursery door plate, wedding top-table marker or shop nameboard. The raised bevelled border frames whatever you place in the field without competing with it. Cutting notes • Scales beautifully from a 120 mm door plate up to a 600 mm entrance board; size it to your text length. • Cut the outline and the domed face from hardwood, MDF or acrylic; a large ball-nose bit gives the soft pillowed surface. • V-carve or pocket your lettering as a second toolpath, or 3D-print the blank and glue on printed letters. • Seal and paint the recessed border a contrast colour so the frame lifts off the sign face.
