Flame-Crested Acanthus Rosette

A blossoming spray of acanthus with a flame-like crest. More exuberant than a simple scroll, this CNC relief fans out as a full foliate rosette: layered leaf blades sweep upward and outward from a central spine, the topmost frond curling over into a tight volute like a flickering flame, while the lower leaves droop and split into pointed tips at the base. Deep undercuts and crisp veining give the whole ornament a lively, almost windblown movement. Use it as a feature centrepiece — the crown of a cabinet, a bed-head medallion, a door panel or an over-mantel motif — wherever a taller, upright ornament suits better than a wide band. CNC and print notes • Machine it as a raised relief; the deep pockets between fronds call for a slim tapered ball-nose to reach the bottoms. • Set a shallow finishing stepover for the smooth petal surfaces, then hand-sand the leaf tips lightly. • Carves handsomely in beech, cherry or oak; choose basswood or MDF for a gilded or painted piece. • Equally usable as a printed appliqué — resin holds the fine leaf tips, FDM works if you scale up and orient the flat back down.
