Description

One long, liquid sweep of acanthus caught in mid-curl. This ornament is a single flowing scroll: a central stem arcs across the piece and breaks into rolled volutes at both ends, while feathered acanthus leaves peel off the main curve in layered, overlapping tongues. The carving is high and rounded, with deep undercut shadows along the leaf edges and tightly wound spiral eyes at the tips — the hallmark of baroque and rococo furniture ornament. Its asymmetry makes it a natural corner or spandrel piece: run it along the top rail of a cabinet, frame a mirror, dress a headboard, or mirror a second copy for a balanced pair over an archway. It reads beautifully as a raised appliqué against a flat painted ground. Cut / print notes • This is a deep, sculptural relief — machine a ball-nose roughing pass then a fine finishing pass to keep the rolled tips smooth. • Leave supporting stock under the thinnest leaf tips until the final pass so they don't snap on cross-grain. • Lime, basswood and walnut carve cleanest; paint-grade MDF works for a gilded or off-white finish. • For 3D printing, lay the flat face down with the relief up, no supports, and glue it straight onto your surface as an onlay.
