Description

A single graceful gust of carved scrollwork. This is a flowing horizontal flourish — an asymmetric ribbon of curling volutes that reads like wind, waves or a calligrapher's swash frozen in wood. A long central stem sweeps across the piece and throws off spiralling curls: a tight snail-scroll anchoring the left end, a fanned cluster of hooked tendrils rising through the middle, and a bold matching curl unfurling at the right. The strands overlap and cross with real dimensional depth, rounded and polished so light runs smoothly along each curve. Because it's directional and off-centre, it makes a superb accent above a doorway, along the top rail of a headboard, on a drawer front, or as a corner spray on a mirror or picture frame. Cut a mirrored pair to flank a central crest, name plaque or house number. Making notes: • Route flat with a fine tapered ball-nose; the deep gaps between scrolls need a narrow bit and a finishing pass to clean the walls. • Plan hold-down tabs on the thin, unsupported curl tips so they don't break free during the cut. • In hardwood the crossing strands look best with grain running lengthwise; in MDF it paints up smooth for a gilded or lacquered look. • As a 3D print, lay it on its back for support-free relief and scale to fit your rail or frame.
