Description

A cascading baroque drop, all shell, scroll and a single blooming rose. This relief carving is a vertical drop onlay in the classic European style. A fluted scallop shell fans out at the top, framed by a pair of curling acanthus scrolls that turn outward like feathered wings. Below, the waist narrows into a slender neck before opening again around a full-petalled rose set in a bed of leaves, with a little scrolled acanthus tail finishing the point. The modelling is generous and deeply undercut, so light rakes across the flutes and petals to throw crisp shadows. Cut into oak, walnut or a dense modelling board, it makes an elegant pendant for a cabinet stile, a fireplace surround, a headboard centre, or the apron of a bespoke table. It also reads beautifully as a standalone plaque. CNC notes • Supplied as an STL relief; drop it onto your stock zero and machine as a 2.5D or full 3D carving. • Rough with a 6mm ballnose, then finish the shell flutes and rose petals with a 1-2mm tapered ball for clean undercuts. • Orient the grain vertically so the long scrolls follow the timber and resist chipping. • A light sand and a dark wax in the recesses will pop the relief on lighter woods. Scale to your panel width; the symmetrical layout keeps it balanced at any size.
