Description

A convex little emblem plate with a spinning pinwheel at its heart. This is a rounded, pillow-shaped plaque — gently domed like a river pebble — carrying a bold carved device across its face. Dead centre sits a raised circular boss, and around it two broad curved arms sweep in rotational symmetry, like a slow pinwheel or a whirl caught mid-turn. Short notches nick each corner of the softened rectangle, giving it the look of a cast badge or an oversized game token. The overall effect is clean and almost heraldic, all confident curves and negative space. It suits anyone after a graphic focal piece: a door or gate medallion, a backing plate behind a drawer pull, a chunky paperweight, or a decorative inlay set into a larger panel. The domed face throws soft, shifting highlights, so it reads especially well in raking light on a shelf or wall. CNC / print notes • The curved surface wants a ball-nose finishing pass for a smooth, sanding-light result. • Machine the recessed emblem first with a smaller bit, then profile the rounded outline last. • In wood, a close-grained species like maple, pear or beech holds the crisp channel edges; MDF works well if you're painting. • 3D printing: orient face-up and print flat — the shallow relief needs no supports, and a fine layer height keeps the dome smooth. The two-armed rotational motif here is purely decorative and non-figurative.
